Tie One On For Safety Campaign
Why is the City of Lebanon displaying red ribbons on vehicles?  As part of the City’s safety program, employees and vehicles will be wearing red ribbons to honor MADD’s campaign of Tie One On For Safety
MADD advocates all drivers to put a red ribbon in a visible location on their vehicle as a reminder to always designate a non-drinking driver.  Each year MADD strives to educate individuals that drinking and driving doesn’t mix the same goes for texting and driving while taking prescription drugs.  City vehicles will display the red ribbons from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day.

In 2012, the City of Lebanon’s Police Department made 70 DUI arrest.  In an effort to reduce the number of driving while intoxicated incidents the Lebanon Police Department conducts in conjunction with MoDot sobriety check points throughout the year.  The City of Lebanon asks its residents and businesses to Tie One On For Safety & encourages drivers to be aware of possible drivers under the influence and to report them immediately to the proper authorities.  Call 911 or *55 for assistance.  For more information about the MADD campaign, visit www.madd.org.

Announcements & Up-Coming Events:

A Note From Gwen Hogan:
Gwen sent the following email to share with co-workers.

Dear Co-Workers,

I have good days and bad days and don't seem to find an answer as to what causes me to have good and bad days.  I can have Afib attacks every 1-2 hours a day and night and then not have but 1 the next day. It is a crazy medical mystery and I can't find any rhyme or reason to it.
When I do have the attacks, I have to stay in bed because my heart rate goes so high and I get very weak and try to pass out when my heart continually tries to get back into a normal rhythm.  My body does seem to be getting use to the abnormal heart rate because I can motivate a little better now when I have the attacks.
My first procedure is scheduled for Nov 18th. They will go down in my stomach to look behind the heart to make sure there are no blood clots. On Nov 19th, they will perform the heart ablation surgery.  After the surgery, I will have to stay in the hospital overnight and hopefully go home the next day.  I will have to stay at home about 5 days and then should be able to return to work.  I will be so glad when this is over and I can return to work and a normal life.

I miss seeing all of you guys at City Hall and Public Works and consider myself to be very blessed with such good caring friends and co-workers. My husband and I truly appreciate everything you have done for us.
