City of Lebanon expands social media presence

LEBANON, Mo. — The city of Lebanon now has new methods of distributing public information in a timely fashion.

The city has launched new Facebook and Twitter pages designed to help city leaders communicate with citizens.

“Our new Facebook page, “City of Lebanon, Missouri – ‘Our Town, Your Town,’” can be found at www.facebook.com/CityofLebanonMO,” said Derek Gean, Lebanon communications manager. “This new page is just the beginning of our efforts to better communicate with our customers.”

The city also launched a new Twitter page that can be followed at @CityofLebanonMO.

The city recently conducted a satisfaction survey among customers which indicated a desire for increased communication.

“You spoke, and we are listening,” said Michael Schumacher, city administrator. “Lebanon truly has a great team of individuals working to enhance the quality of life for our citizens. From a professional police force, to an excellent fire department and a dedicated public works staff, our workforce is doing great things and we want to make sure everyone is aware of what is happening in our town.”

The social media pages will regularly provide information about street projects, utility concerns, police news and more. This page will complement other city departmental social media efforts, including those of tourism, police, fire, parks and the Floyd W. Jones Airport.

“Please ‘like’ and share our page. Help us get the word out so we can do a better job of keeping our community informed,” Gean said.
