Groundbreaking Ceremony scheduled for community project
The City of Lebanon, in conjunction with the Lebanon Technology and Career Center, has scheduled a Groundbreaking Ceremony for a student house-building project at 258 Hoover Street.
The ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m. Jan. 8.
The Lebanon R-3 School District purchased the Hoover Street property from the City with the goal of students building a new home on the site.
"This property was condemned as a nuisance and a dangerous building, the City of Lebanon had the house demolished," said Joe Berkich, City of Lebanon Code Administrator/Building Official.
"The City will be assisting with the supervision and building inspection to instruct the students on building codes and inspections. We want this to be a joint community project that helps these students learn about the construction of a home from the ground up," Berkich said.
Upon completed, officials plan to offer the home for sale to the public.
The community is invited to attend the ceremony.
