Public Works to being spring restoration activities
Now that spring has sprung, the Lebanon Public Works Department is working to restore damage around the city brought on by a harsh winter.
According to Mike Moore, Street Division superintendent, street crews have completed a total inspection of city streets and hope to have the potholes caused by winter weather repaired in the next three weeks.
"The winter weather freeze-and-thaw cycle is hard on the streets," Moore said. "We began making repairs last week."
Moore emphasized that repairs will be weather dependent. When the streets are wet, crew members are unable to make such repairs.
The Environmental Division is also beginning preparations to restore lawns that were damaged over the winter months due to water leaks and other maintenance activities.
"Our goal is to have all lawns restored by Memorial Day weekend, " said Richard Shockley, Public Works director. Shockley said environmental crews would make restoration repairs as quickly as possible but noted that repairs would be dependent on ground conditions.
