Ward 3 Councilman Josh Ray to step down
Ward 3 Councilman Josh Ray has announced he will be stepping down from his seat following the Oct. 25 regular council meeting. Ray offers the following statement:
“Before I was elected to council, I started the process of moving to a bigger house. Our home of twelve years had been outgrown with the assistance of my three children. With the housing market as insane as it has been over the last year or so, we managed to sell that house quickly this summer and moved into a rental in the ward to maintain my councilman status. Our expectation was to purchase a new home when the housing market slowed down this coming spring. That plan was upended when we found a home here in town that checked nearly every box my wife, boys, and dogs had. We finalize our move to that house at the end of this month.
The unfortunate part of this early move is that I will no longer have a home address in Ward 3. This makes me ineligible for my seat on city council after this next council meeting on Monday, October 25, 2021.
While I’ve always maintained privately that I would retire from political life after this term, I’m disappointed that this move across town shortens that term by a few months. I absolutely love representing Lebanon’s citizens. I leave office this time around knowing that the work I’ve done in my three years of service as an elected official helped Lebanon navigate rough waters to a new era of development, community engagement, representation, and pride. I have no doubt that if I am needed for anything, city council will call. I also know that the town is left in good hands with a city administrator the town deserves and a city staff that has all-time high morale and focus. I wish our entire city staff and city council the best as they continue moving Lebanon forward.
I sincerely hope the town remembers the positive changes I’ve made over the years and reacts fondly when my name is mentioned. I did my best to represent every member of our community.”
Lebanon Mayor Jared Carr said he is appreciative of the service Ray has provided the City and the residents of Ward 3 during his stint on the City Council.
“Councilman Ray has worked hard to serve the residents of Ward 3 and this city as a whole,” Carr said. “I want to take this opportunity to offer my sincere appreciation to Josh for his commitment to our team and for his service to the Lebanon community.”
