  • A higher-than-expected utility bill can happen for several reasons, including increased usage, seasonal changes, weather conditions, or rate updates. Your total bill is made up of fixed monthly charges plus usage-based charges for electric, water, and sewer services.

    Current Utility Rates

    Electric Rates

    Residential (Effective July 1, 2025):

    • Service Availability Charge: $23.00 per month
    • Energy Charge:
      • First 1,000 kWh: $0.1057 per kWh
      • Additional kWh: $0.1057 per kWh

Electric bills often increase during extreme hot or cold weather due to heating or cooling demands.

    Water Rates

    Residential (5/8"–3/4" Meter, Effective FY2026):

    • Meter Fee: $10.50 per month
    • Usage:
      • First 7,000 gallons: $2.21 per 1,000 gallons
      • Over 7,000 gallons: $4.40 per 1,000 gallons

Higher water use from lawn watering, leaks, or household changes can impact your bill.

    Sewer (Wastewater) Rates

    Residential (5/8"–3/4" Meter, Effective FY2026):

    • Meter Fee: $27.20 per month
    • Usage:
      • First 7,000 gallons: $2.41 per 1,000 gallons
      • Next 18,000 gallons: $5.87 per 1,000 gallons
      • Over 25,000 gallons: $7.74 per 1,000 gallons

Sewer charges are typically based on water usage, so increased water use can also raise sewer costs.
