[ARCHIVED] City Council Recap - April 10th Regular Meeting

City Council Recap website

Here is a brief summary of major actions taken by the Lebanon City Council at their April 10th meeting:

✅ The Lebanon City Council and Lebanon Park Board met together for the presentation of the Park Master Plan. The plan will be available on the city website soon.

✅ Council approved Bill No. 6472 authorizing the renewal of contract mowing services for the city by Dunn Mowing LLC.

Why is this important?

The service keeps city facilities looking great while saving tax dollars in the process.

✅ Council approved Bill 6473 authorizing the purchase of 25 self-rescue rope systems for the Fire Department.

What’s the purpose of this purchase?

The city provides each firefighter a self-rescue rope and pulley system which is carried in their bunker pants. The primary use is for self-rescue from upper floors of structures should a firefighter become lost or trapped in a burning building. This purchase will provide our firefighters with an additional safety element.

✅ Council approved Bill No. 6475 authorizing an extension agreement for tac collection services from Laclede County Collector Toni Morris and the Laclede County Commission.

Why is this important?

Having this agreement in place assures that Lebanon residents can receive one bill for local property taxes and can pay those taxes at a singular location. If an agreement is not reached at the courthouse, the city will be required to begin preparing to collect taxes. This change would result in residents receiving multiple bills, increased inconvenience printing receipts for the Department of Motor Vehicles when renewing vehicle registrations and cost Lebanon residents hundreds of thousands of dollars to hire a city collector, hire additional staff and purchase tax collection software.

In other news, the council approved Resolution No. 492 accepting the election results from the April 4th Municipal Election. Following this action, returning council members Ken Eldridge, Randy Wall and Bob Garner and incoming council member Dan Mizell were administered the oath of office. The new council elected Ward 4 Councilmember Bob Garner and Mayor Pro-Tem. Council also appointed Kathleen Haefner to the Lebanon Area Veterans Memorial Board and Mayor Jared Carr presented several awards.

This summary is just a brief recap of major actions taken at the City Council meeting. To see all action items, the agenda is available on the city website.
