The Lebanon Fire Department is encouraging local businesses, large and small, to take advantage of its free fire extinguisher training class.
On Sept. 25, 20 employees at White River Marine Group participated in the training, which included instruction on fire extinguisher types, how to select the correct one, and hands-on use of a digital fire extinguisher prop.
Inspector Mike Spencer led the session, using the department’s digital fire prop to safely simulate real fire conditions. The prop uses sensors and visuals to give participants a realistic, mess-free way to practice using an extinguisher—without flames, chemicals or cleanup.
Lebanon Fire Chief Sam Schneider said training and preparation are critical.
“This training can save lives,” Schneider said. “We want every business in Lebanon—big or small—to know this service is here for them. It’s free, fast and could make a huge difference in an emergency.”
The class typically takes about 30 minutes, though more time may be needed depending on group size. The department can accommodate both large groups and smaller teams.
There is no cost for the training. To schedule a session, contact Inspector Mike Spencer, at the Lebanon Fire Department, at (417) 532-2104.
