Fireworks Ordinance Information

The City of Lebanon strictly regulates the use, sale, and display of fireworks to ensure the safety of our community. Below is a summary of the city’s fireworks ordinance:


Use of Fireworks

The use of fireworks within city limits is prohibited. This includes any firecrackers, rockets, sparklers, or any other combustible or explosive devices. Exceptions are made only for permitted and supervised public displays.


Sale of Fireworks

The sale, exhibition, or display of fireworks is also prohibited within the city. No individual or business may sell or offer fireworks for sale.


Public Fireworks Displays

Public fireworks displays are allowed only under certain conditions, including:

  • Permit Requirement: A special permit must be obtained through the Fire Department at least 21 business days before the planned display. Applications are available from the city and must be approved by the City Council.
  • Safety Standards: The Fire Department will establish safety standards for the display, including supervision and audience restrictions.
  • Licensed Pyrotechnicians: Any display using advanced fireworks (DOT 1.3G, or requiring an ATF Type 43 license) must be conducted by a licensed and insured pyrotechnician.
  • Insurance: Organizers must provide a bond or insurance policy of at least $1,000,000 to cover any potential damages.
