Emergency Communication Center Advisory Board

Emergency Communication Center Advisory Board

The Emergency Communication Center Advisory Board, established on September 9, 2024, by Ordinance #6992, oversees the consolidated 911 Dispatch System between the Lebanon Police Department and Laclede County 911 Communications. This unified system eliminates delays caused by call transfers between agencies, enhancing public safety and improving emergency response coordination.

The new 911 Communication Center, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), brings all dispatchers into one state-of-the-art facility. By aligning efforts under a single communication center, the advisory board ensures that citizens and first responders receive timely and coordinated assistance during emergencies. The City of Lebanon appoints two members to the board.

Board members are appointed by the city to oversee the transition and operations of the consolidated dispatch system. They collaborate with city and county officials to ensure effective emergency communication services for Lebanon and Laclede County.

Background

The consolidation of the Lebanon Police Department's Dispatch Center with the Laclede County 911 Communications Center aims to eliminate the delays caused by call transfers. Under the new system, all emergency dispatch services will operate from the same facility, improving coordination and response times for police, fire, and emergency medical services.

"This agreement will enhance the safety of citizens and first responders," said Lebanon Mayor Jared Carr. Laclede County Sheriff David Millsap also emphasized the importance of the new dispatch system, stating, "During critical incidents, dispatchers will coordinate responses from the same communication center, ensuring the fastest and most effective emergency response."
